Two fire incidents struck Mokokchung on Sunday evening one at Arkong ward and the other Sangtemla ward.
The first incident reportedly took place inside the kitchen of the Mokokchung District BJP office, around 5 pm at Arkong ward. The timely intervention of fire-fighters and SDRF (Home Guards & Civil Defence) personnel assisted by the public brought the fire under control.
As the fire personnel were at Arkong ward, another major fire broke out, above the Eastern Talkies, Sangtemla Ward. Four houses were gutted in the inferno.
Fire brigade personnel, assisted by SDRF, police and public doused the fire. District administration officials also rushed to the spot.
The timely intervention stopped the fire from spreading to nearby government quarters and buildings.
Till the filling of this report, immediate details could not be ascertained, as the disaster management control was still in progress. No loss of lives and injuries were reported.
