Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) held an executive meeting on September 9 to discuss the growing unwanted issue created by Meetei customary singing/drumming groups. A press release by DMC information & publicity secretary, Prem Singh stated that as per the resolution, the council for the interest of the community has suspended S. Mani Singh and Kh. Ingoba Singh from performing any ritual singing and drumming in all Meetei traditional occasions from September 16, in and around Dimapur till further notice. DMC also stated that it would not be responsible for any untoward incidents if they are invited for performance of any Meetei customary rituals. It stated that invitation to them shall be considered as an act of defiance against the council and it has appealed to all to bear with the inconvenience caused.
