The department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LM&CP) and the Dimapur police jointly carried out surprise checking/inspection of butcher stalls in Dimapur town area on September 18. A press release from Dimapur LM&CP assistant controller, Limatoshi Jamir stated that the team seized faulty and unverified weighing instruments and weights.
Altogether, 38 (thirty eight) butchers were prosecuted under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the Nagaland Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011. The joint team further decided to conduct such inspections regularly.
