Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, CM Chang unveiled the foundation stone for construction of Ranger Office (RO) at Tuensang Town on September 21.
According to DIPR, speaking on the occasion, the minister thanked the DFO staff for their sincere and dedicated work for the people of Tuensang. He said that Nagaland received 533 crore from JICA (Japan International Co-operation Agency) for the construction of Offices and implementing schemes in Nagaland. He mentioned that the fund should be utilized efficiently for the welfare of the people, and for basic office infrastructure. He urged the DFO staff to work sincerely for the welfare of the people in the District.
MLA Kejong Chang, in his short speech, urged the Forest department to plant more trees in reserved forests to help purify water resources and stop soil erosion. Large scale deforestation should be checked by the department, he stated.
A welcome address was delivered by Y.M Jami, conservator of forest, Mokokchung; and vote of thanks was delivered by L. Tsingthrise Sangtam, FRO Tuensang. The program was chaired by Dr. C. Zupeni Tsanglai, DFO Tuensang. The minister was accompanied by advisor of IPR, SCERT and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung; MLA Muthingnyuba Sangtam, MLA Kejong Chang, MLA Toyang Chang, DC Tuensang and SP Tuensang.
