
As part of Poshan Abhiyan programme, the department of Social Welfare Dimapur district organised a baby show at Ana Ki, Kids worship Center Dimapur on September 22.
87 babies from all communities participated in the baby show competition.
The event was graced by director Social Welfare, T.Merangtsungba Aier as a special guest.
He maintained that child should have proper and proportionate growth in weight as well as in height. “All milestones in the growth of a child is contented when all prescribed immunizations are given to the child without fail”, he added.
Stressing on the importance of the health of a mother, Aier explained that health of a mother contributes a major role in the life of a human. "From the day of conception upto the age of 2 years of a child, interventions of better diet and healthcare of a mother is vety essential," he observed.
State Ambassador, Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan, Prof. Alongla P.Aier, who was the honoured guest, encouraged the parents to take proper care of their children while reminding them that it was an honour and privilege to be a parent. A healthy child will be good for the society and nation and it will go a long way forward, she observed. She also congratulated the department of Social welfare for initiating the programme.
On the occasion, Deputy CMO, Dr.Antoly advised the pregnant mothers for institutional delivery and also encouraged the mothers for six months exclusive breast feeding.
In the baby show competition, Baby Imnajungla Mollier bagged the first prize and received a cash prize of Rs.5000 and a citation while Baby Akili K.Jimomi was placed in the 2nd position and received a cash of 3000 and a citation. The 3rd prize carrying a cash prize of Rs.2000 each and citations went to two competitors-Kechetyile and Temsuakum.
Other sub- category winners are: Best Smile-Veyie Tetseo, Best Dressed-Likhumgha Zhimomi, All Round- Ninuka Aye, Most Healthy Baby- Lendisen and Most Active baby-Mathew. They received cash prizes of Rs.1000 each with citations. Besides, all the participants were given Rs.500 each along with a citation.
The panel of judges for the baby show were, T.Merangtsungba Aier, Director Social welfare, Professor Alongla P.Aier, State Brand Ambassador, Dr.Antoly Swu, Dy.CMO, H&FW, Tosheli Zhimomi, District Welfare officer, Dimapur and Dr.Akumtoshi, Pediatrician, Zion Hospital, Dimapur.
