The modern sense is being experienced by every person today; not necessary to propound, it’s the daily routine. Nevertheless, the influence of westernization have pros and cons. It’s rather to point out critiques in order to foster than praising someone which have become the common subject of acknowledgement.
    1. It is very seldom to ascertain original folktales, folksongs and dances in this contemporary era. What we hear and see is a mixed composition of modern style and old culture. Everything seems modernized from pin to machine or head to toe. The coverage of modernization is growing wider and higher, whereas the cultural system is diminishing and vanishing.
    2. Majority would accept this fact. The dresses or ornaments we use today clearly show the trends of westernization. The traditional attires is specially wore during big occasion like festival has also been changed  its customs. Attires such as vest-coat, tie, shawl, bag, muffler etc. cannot be considered traditionally as our attires. The reason behind lingers in our heads.
    3. We all have witnessed the launching of smartphones in Nagaland particularly, this happened recently. The smartphones has made every elements of life very sensitive. So far, men didn’t make closer and stronger relations in history with any other stuffs other than smartphones. As a matter of fact, people started paying more time on these mobile phones. Some introverts worships their favorite celebrity’s on phone instead of worshipping God. Also the young students of this generation are losing the value of language because of excessive use of foreign languages, SMS lingo and slang words. So, the treasure of moral and education is degrading heavily.
    4. The professor once argued, “The Indus Valley Civilization is far more better than the 21st century  in Nagaland”. This statement is absolutely supportive cause we can see what’s going around in the state with our naked eyes. Nagas talked and talk on the issues of Nagaland over and over again, but the problem goes on still unsolved. If you’re reading up to here, you might be having greater knowledge to pour into your head for analysis method. The professor then came up with a conclusion point saying about Kerala State and Kiphire District issues of Landslide and flood; .”The state Government had rushed down to the southern part for aid, leaving our District in pathetic condition and contributed huge amount of money to the outer state (Kerala), the state which is well developed. On the other side, the State Government crawled back from South India and had contributed lesser amount to our own people”. (A matter to be rationalised). However, to reiterate, “Indus Valley Civilisation is much better than today’s Nagaland”. Everything was splendid and well developed. There were proper road connectivity, sound administration, good educational system, well-managed drainage system etc. According to radiocarbon dating, initiation of Indus Valley civilisation can be dated around 2500- 1750 BC.
Today is 2018, the state is lacking behind in many routes and it’s incomparable to the Harrapan civilisation.
    5. The bitter truth is, the Cultural practice, value, ritual, custom etc. are at the edge of extinction. The theory says, Nagas preserves distinct dialects, unique culture, ethnic, and custom. However, in reality and practical, the theory is seemingly wrong, since people are into the stage of modernity. The Cultural identity also overlaps with politics, social, education and moral identity. If analysed, there is a gap dividing the cultural identity. The modernisation is an ‘adopted culture’, an alien identity.  We are living in a society with dual identities.
The aforesaid points are stressed on the drawbacks of culture. The advantages of culture are overwhelmingly hampered by western thoughts and culture.
The political identity can be termed as a feeling of oneness in a state. The citizens  of a state have the right to live a life by exercising the legal political duties is an identification of people in politics.
This road of century is being preoccupied by favouritism, nepotism, corruption and so on are very much encouraged. Projecting on the Election scene, it can be said that the leaders are the mongers. You bribed at the time of election curbing the rights of the people. There is no sense of democracy! Though people enjoys the right of voting, they don’t want to be a useless being at the end. The money is the root of corruption and corruption is an evil. All men and women need money to survive, a bound of love with monetary is firm. How many times do we have to go blaming one another?
Indeed, having money is having power and evil spirit as well. There should be a balancing measurement to meet a peaceful and secured ends.
Like different types of organization, association, union whatever.. The government must be interested in learning multiple grievances in Nagaland. The slogan “Change is coming” is one the alive and popular phrase familiar to every Naga. Under this slogan, the promised manifesto of the ruling party was laid down. The word ‘change’ means to make something different or to transform. It’s almost a seventh months after the General Election, and we could have a picture on how change is coming. Perhaps, change had been coming on its way, but due to deplorable road, CHANGE had stopped in few steps. The slogan is under suffocation. As revealed about the misused of funds, misappropriation of Scholarship funds, this fund-that fund.
The Secretariat is the home of the Government. Sadly after landslide, there is one narrow -lane covering about hundreds of feet (only way for entry from 9: 00 A.M). The Ministers are accessible on this road from any direction at anytime. Why is it so hard even to develop a way to your offices? Your aspirations, dreams and visions will be meaningless if you couldn’t implement the necessity needs of public. Change doesn’t mean of building and upgrading high skyscrapers in cities. Change is a modification of old mindset into a new formula for betterment. Humans are directly or indirectly involved and related to politics. The stable Government would have effective outcomes. The unstable Government would bring disunity, harm, war and division amongst us. The modernity has erasing the inherent identification marks in all spheres of life.
We must take an oath to stand as one with our own cultural beliefs to play a vital role in order to keep our identity unremovable.
