(Did you know? Nagas are undisputedly the most smart people in the world in the game called ‘Hide and Seek” Till today no one has been caught or arrested in any corruption related case ironically even a 10 years old kids raises the issue of corruptions on facebook.)
I lived from the time of SC Jamir, to the time of Nephiu Rio as chief ministers. During these times of three decades I have never seen or heard anyone from Nagaland bagged the most coveted title called “world champion” or undisputed National champion. Where as, If we trace out the records of our neighbouring states like Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya etc, their production rate of achievers are outstanding because of reproduction. For instance Manipur have Mary Kom 5 (five) times amateur boxing world champion, Assam have golden girl Him Das, Meghalaya have excel in national football that influenced the high profile investors to start various infrastructural and other developmental program in the state. Contrary the production rate of achievers in Nagaland is very very low or nil!!!! But why why why???
Is it because of the unfavorable natural environment? Added with fermented food habits? I guess not!!!! Because at present Nagaland have witnessed a talented sportsmen like Israel G. Xuivi known for his fastest kick in martial arts, Olympian Chekrovolu Swuro bronze medallist in Olympic archery, Mughato Zhimo three times national best football coach, Thupuvoyi Swuro prominent national archery, Hokaito Zhimomi first class national cricket player, Viseyie Kosa a professional sepaktakraw player in national and international, Joseph Sumi 10th times Northeast badminton champion and 15th times undisputed state badminton champion and many many more…..
The above mentioned talented individuals have all tasted the sweetness of success however the ultimate “Dream Success” have all remained a stagnant dream due to the lack of proper management, financial constraints, lack of professional coaching and training, unavailability of sponsors, mentor and sports kits. Indeed and undeniably the govt have opened it’s doors and accommodated some of the achievers to its fold by offering a decent gazetted govt job but unfortunately the govt have forgotten to accommodate the talents along as a result Nagaland is unable to produce any international level top seeded sports figure Of whom we can really be proud of and feel worth to shell out travelling around to support him/her.
All these factors led to a stumbling block like tumour thus required to be operated wide open. Relatively it’s high time the govt should come out along fact to clarify the minds of the people simply by responding in the form of rejoinder to this article inclusive of the following sequence.
1. How much amount did the govt invest on these above mentioned talented individuals in the quest of producing multiple talented sportsmen like them?
2. How many sports academy or coaching centres have been opened so far through the influence of their outstanding performances or any other means?
3. What are the Achievements of Youth and sports ministry in the last 10 years? along with the presentation sheets that have been presented in parliament.
4. On what basis did the governor’s award being selected so far in the field of sports? Kindly educate us by enclosing the success stories of awardees for their tireless sacrifices and contributions towards the upliftment of sportsmen in our state. Lastly but not the least, putting us all into test once again our brother Kivi Jimo is all set to participate in ISL (Indian Super League) representing Nagaland with Northeast United FC. Hope this time he will return by flight not in a passenger train.
