Upholding its objective to promote progress and prosperity, social and economic upliftment through participatory approaches, justice for women against all forms of discrimination and protect rights and liberty of women in society, Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) will be organizing Miss Eastern Nagaland-2018 in Tuensang on November 30.

The beauty pageant will be organized under the theme “Every woman a Queen” to imbibe confidence in women to step forward.

Briefing media persons on the event in Kohima, Saturday afternoon, ENWO president Ayong Chang highlighted the objective of ENWO and said Eastern Nagaland has had a very unique history because of its difficult and remote geographical location and ethnicity.

She said its administration over the years prior to independence up to the grant of statehood had been unique, and much different compared to other provinces within the state.

Unfortunately, growth, development and upliftment of eastern society has somehow not kept pace with other districts, Ayong lamented.

She said creating a platform for women would enable them to step forward and build confidence to compete with others and get equal opportunities to harness their skills and potential.

With this aim, she said, ENWO had taken the initiative to organise the beauty pageant for the six major tribes to provide requisite impetus to its objectives and to empower its women to get equal opportunities to represent their talents and skills, both at the state and national levels.

Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation officials also reported that Indian model, VJ and a fashion choreographer, Alesia Raut will be the official ramp walk trainer and also the curator of the event while actor, Siddhaanth Surryavanshi will be the host of the show.

The judges will be sr. scientist and head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tuensang, Dr. Keviletsu Khate; SDO(C) Tuensang, Ajit Kumar Verma; SP Tuensang, Bharat Laxman Markat; assistant professor Sao Chang College, Temjentula; and staff officer H.Q 7 sector Assam Rifles, Major Madhvi Sharma.

Miss Eastern Nagaland 2018 winner and runner ups will walk away with cash prizes of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 each with gift hampers.
