Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, Monday said that the Nagas can achieve more than expected if everyone was united.
Speaking at the 35th conference of Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (AGOK) at AGOK Badze Meriema, Kohima, Rio, however, lamented that the Nagas were divided among themselves today, saying individual pride has become more important than the Naga pride. “I believe the leaders and the politicians are at fault for not bringing social reformation,” DIPR quoted Rio as saying.
Describing AGOK as a respectable organisation, the chief minister said it could bring unity within the community as well as the Nagas. Rio expressed happiness over AGOK unselfishly working towards the welfare of the whole community.
Stating that there were too many teachers and leaders, but there were no doers, the chief minister said unless the teachers lead by example “we cannot execute our plans.”
“There is frustration and negativity in our society, we are expecting everything to be done by the government, leaders and parents. This can make our society very weak,” Rio said.
Highlighting the natural disasters that have ravaged the state this year, Rio stressed on the importance of environment and expressed appreciation that some villages have banned the use of plastics. Further, he stressed on the use of information technology to achieve good governance. NLA deputy speaker, Zhaleo Rio; Advisor, Neikiesalie Nicky Kire; Advisor, Er. Zale Neikha and Keneizhakho Nakhro, MLA, also attended the function.
AGOK president, Dr. Kedozeto Punyu, gave a brief outline on the projects and works undertaken; general secretary, Megolhu Dolie and treasurer, Vikhozo Vitsu presented their respective reports. The same AGOK office bearers were nominated for another term (2018-2020).
