Ngada Mini-Hornbill Festival 2018 begins

 The Ngada Mini-Hornbill Festival 2018 festivities kick-started today at Tseminyu with the traditional morung king post towing ceremony. Chief host, Advisor, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services & Women Resources Development, Govt. of Nagaland, R. Khing and Tseminyu ADC, & organizing committee convenor Nokchasashi, along with leaders from all Rengma villages led the traditional procession this morning from Tsokhinsin Junction, Tseminyu New Town to the RSA Ground, Tseminyu Old Town covering a distance of about one and half kms. The ceremony was attended in full festive spirit and enthusiasm by thousands of people representing all the ranges of Rengma area. As traditionally practiced, men-folks both young and old clad in full traditional attire ceremoniously participated in the proceeding of the  morung king-post towing ceremony which began with a prayer of blessings and thanksgiving by an elder, R. Yhunsenlo Kent.

Following the Morung king-post towing ceromony as prelude to the Ngada Mini-Hornbill Festival main event on 27th and 28th November, 2018 at RSA Ground Tseminyu Old Town, the stage is set for the Ngada celebrations at the heart of Rengma land. Advisor, Water Resources, Namri Nchang and  Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports Er. Zale Neikha, will grace the first day of the celebrations on Tuesday as Ngada guests while on the second day, Advisor, Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire and Advisor, IT, S&T & NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon will grace the celebrations as Ngada Guests.  

R. Khing and chief secretary R. Binchilo Thongwill be the chief host and host of the celebrations respectively. The Ngada Mini-Hornbill festival 2018 is organized by the Rengma Frontal Organizations in collaboration with the Govt. of Nagaland. The two day event will feature display of traditional morungs constructed by different villages, folk songs and dances by the different ranges of Rengma area including cultural troupes from neighbouring tribes, exhibition and sale of indigenous crafts and agri-horti products among others, an Indigenous Games Competition organized by Vanguard FC Tseminyu and will wind up with the Ngada Musical Fest on the final night.                     (NPN)
