
Wokha district administration in collaboration with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) SHGs organised one day training on paper bag making under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme on November 27 at the Conference Hall of VDB & VCC, Wokha.
A DIPR report stated that resources persons from Phek Town Youth Society led by team leader Seyiengoi Soho, Nuyi Hoshi and Mulekho Chuzo trained 67 women trainees.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, said BBBP scheme was launched in Wokha district in the month of October 2018 so as to empower the girls by enabling them to earn their livelihood and be self sufficient.
He encouraged the trainees to learn the skill and use it to be self sufficient. Samoon also discouraged using of plastic bags and urged citizens to use paper or jute bags made by local people thereby saving the environment and promote local products.
The resource persons also discouraged the usage of plastic bags and informed that under “Clean Green Operation Phek” the team have been actively promoting the importance of safe environment.
