Naga Club (NC) Saturday observed a thanksgiving programme at Pulie Badze base camp for the success of the recently held centenary celebration.
Addressing the occasion, NCS finance secretary Kuolachalie Seyie, citing a quote while submitting a memorandum to the Simon Commission in 1929 by NC– “Leave us alone to determine ourselves”, said Nagas had suffered subjugation by vastly superior powers.
He said “we are still claimed to be proud that our forefathers did not hand down to us a ‘legacy of defeat story’ without severest defiant of our history and honour our people as a nation.”
Seyie remarked that Naga Club would not have been such an important institution, had it not made its declaration of sovereignty before the British statutory commission in 1929.
“…We not firmly stood on the declaration as has done till date” claimed Seyie and urge upon the fellow Nagas to take up zeal and enthusiast spirit for the better future of the Nagas. (Speech on p-6)
