
A “Sensitization on Women Health Issues” Fathers’ Camp, Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), was conducted on February 9 at Wokha Town Baptist Church, Wokha, with Medical Officer Dr. R. Zechano Ezung (AYUSH) District Hospital Wokha, and UBSI Wokha Police Station, Longkumonen Pongen as resources persons.
According to DIPR, Dr. Ezung, dwelling on the topic women health issues, stated that both men and women have many health issues but some health issues affect women differently. She listed some of the common problems and diseases women face like breast cancer, pregnancy issues, cervical cancer etc. She also stated women have a higher heart attack death rate compared to men. According to Dr. Ezung, depression and anxiety is also seen more often in women. Longkumonen Pongen, speaking on Dangers of Social Media for Teenagers, said it was very important for parents to talk to their kids about how to use social media wisely as there are so many good things to learn from the internet. He however cautioned against the risk factors involved and thus suggested that parents should talk to their children about this.
Longkumonen also added that parents should be aware of what their children do online because, he said, spending much time on social media can sometimes be dangerous. He also dwelt on the topic “Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences”.
The function was chaired by EAC, Wokha, Tumben P. Tsanglao; Rev. S. Thungrio, pastor Wokha Town Baptist Church welcomed the gathering.
