Govt creates new post for EPFO

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the Ministry of Labour has created a new post equivalent to that of a joint secretary in the government of India.

In this regard, K.L. Goyal, additional CPFC (HQ) has been posted as the first officer in the rank equivalent to that of a joint secretary.

Goyal, a Chartered Accountant selected by UPSC in 1990 in EPFO had served in Gujrat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharastra and New Delhi in various cadres. 

He was the pioneer in setting up of Investment Monitoring Cell of the EPFO head office. He had also managed funds through portfolio managers of Rs. 4 lakh crore (presently around Rs. 12 lakh crore) and the rate of interest for EPFO members was declared by 1% over the past 5-6 years through his initiative. 

Goyal stated that his priority will be to settle the death claims within same day and all other claims within a week, provided the claims were made complete in all respects. His other priority area will be redressal of grievances of members within 3 days.
