Survival Nagaland (SN) has appealed to all Village Councils (VCs) and GBs of Nagaland to follow the “exemplary step” taken by Kohima Village Council to check the alarming growth of illegal migrants in Nagaland.
Survival Nagaland convenor, Simon Kelio, in a press release opined that such a decision should be binding on all villagers including those that have property outside the village jurisdiction.
SN further opined that the most important tool to combat the menace of illegal migrants lay in the hands of village councils, adding that this tool was yet to be exercised practically till date. The organization was also of the view that such a step restricting random allotment of residential, commercial buildings and farm lands would help safeguard the land and economy.
