Senior pastor of BMC passes away

Senior Pastor of Baptist Mission Church, Kohima Rev. Moa Longchari passed away on August 5 at a hospital in Mumbai after prolonged illness. He was 51 and leaves behind his wife, two sons and one daughter.

Late Rev. Moa was the son of Mrs Konuo and late Temsu (retired director IPR) and the grand son of late Rev. Longri Ao. A brief prayer service was held on Monday by NCF Mumbai.

According to family sources, the body will be flown down to Dimapur on August 6, where a brief prayer service will be held at Sovima village (Vitho Khel) at 1 p.m. Thereafter the body will be taken to Kohima.

The funeral service will be held on August 7 at 12.30 p.m. at Baptist Mission Convention Centre, Kohima.

Condolences: Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton has expressed sorrow over the untimely demise of late Rev. Moa Longchari, brother-in-law of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and senior pastor of Baptist Mission Church Kohima (BMC), who passed away on August 5 at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. 

In a statement, Patton said his sudden demise was not only a huge loss to the family, but the Churches and people of Nagaland have lost a faithful, humble and fearful servant of God.

Patton on behalf of all the BJP legislators, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and also prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.

5 Ghaspani-II A/C: NDPP 5-Ghaspani-II A/C has expressed pain over the demise of Rev. Moa Longchari, senior pastor of Baptist Mission Church, Kohima. 

In a condolence note, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C president, Dosau Kuotsu and media secretary Thejangukho Yalietsu described Rev. Moa as a cheerful, down-to-earth and dedicated servant of God who brought about massive changes in different Christian movements across Nagaland. He had always rendered his very best for all during his years of service, it added. 

With his demise, NDPP 5-Ghaspani-II A/C said Naga Churches have lost one of the noblest leader, who was a sterling example of humbleness and commitment in all Christian endeavours. 

The party prayed that the Almighty Lord grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family as they continue to uphold the legacy of Rev. Longchar through the blessings of God.
