NSRLM block staff educated on sexual harassment at workplace

Four-day training on “Gender and Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act” was organised by Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) for the district and block staff on November 26-29 at Hotel Lavisto, Kohima.

A press release by NSRLM stated that Nagaland being one of the gender pilot states in India under Deendayal Antodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), NSRLM was strengthening efforts up to the community level with respect to interventions in gender issues and rolling out of social inclusion.

The release informed that the gender forum would be a forum at the village level comprising of key stakeholders, line departments, CBOs, frontline workers and the mission’s community institution members to address community prioritized gender-based issues. 

The release stated  that social inclusion was also being rolled out in the state with implementation of a key tool called Vulnerability Reduction Plan (VRP) to address issues of the most vulnerable categories such as the elderly, people with disabilities (PwDs) and other vulnerable groups. 

It informed that ICCs would be set up in the state, district and block management units and Local Complaints Committees (LCC) would also be set up eventually. 

In line with the national mandate of setting up of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in establishments and organizations, NSRLM said an orientation on Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act and workings of the ICC was also imparted during the training. 

Resource persons for the training were National Resource Person (NRP), NRLM, Aasha Ramesh and Mission Manager, NMMU, NRLM, Seema Bhaskaran.
