
Reorientation of urban ASHAs & Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS) at ward level under NUHM Mokokchung which started batch wise on August 29, 2019 covering all 18 wards of Mokokchung concluded on January 14.
A press release from CMO office stated that, the resource person were Sentirenla consultant NUHM & Watisenla DCM. Trainers were trained on the activities, roles & responsibilities of ASHAs & MAS. Role of ASHA is to create awareness and provide information to the community on determinants of health, existing health services and timely utilisation. ASHA will fulfil the role through home visits, attending to urban health and nutrition day (UHND) and supporting outreach activities, visits to health facilities, promotion of MAS and maintenance of records.
MAS as the name suggests are local women’s collective and are expected to take collective action on issues related to health, nutrition, water sanitation and its social determinants at ward level. They were also trained on the new MCP card and maintenance of various records and registers.
