Mopung- chuket Community Tourism Society (MCTS) observed its handing over ceremony on March 5 at the premises of the village morung.

A press release by MCTS stated that the new team of MCTS led by Limalenden Longkumer took over the reins of Mopungchuket tourism from the previous team led by Dr. Aoyimsen Jamir.

Later after the ceremony, the new team of MCTS held a meeting where a number of issues were addressed and plans were charted for promotion of the village’s tourism.

Meanwhile, MCTS appealed to all the stake holders and villagers in general to cooperate with MCTS for the benefit of the community. MCTS also conveyed that it was opened to exploring avenues for working together with tour operators and travel agencies.

While soliciting feedback from visitors on how to improve the sector, MCTS appealed government agencies, NGOs, financial institutions and well-wishers to extend their continued support towards Mopungchuket tourism.

It may be noted that MCTS functions under the authority of the Mopungchuket Senso Mungdang, the village’s apex social organisation and is entrusted with the task of promoting Mopungchuket tourism. MCTS is a not-for-profit entity and works for the promotion of Mopungchuket tourism with sustainable development and benefit of the local community as its core agenda.
