Department of Botany and Chemistry, Fazl Ali College (FAC) undertook the initiative of preparing hand sanitizers using specifications prescribed by WHO to ameliorate the scarcity and exorbitant market prices of the same on Wednesday. This initiative is in view of the COVID-19 which has been spreading globally and as precautionary measure for safety of the public.
The product which is prepared is five times cheaper than the commercial variant and has been packed in recycled cosmetic dispensers collected from amongst college fraternity.
Collected items were sterilized by autoclaving and distributed to the district administration, religious places and hospitals.
The same will be distributed to banks, commercial vendors and traffic police personnel in the coming days.
The college has the capacity to produce 200 liters of the hand sanitizers per day.
