
Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) have appealed to the state government to provide all necessary assistance to Naga students, arriving from other states and those stranded at various places due to the restrictions imposed by state governments.
NSF president Ninoto Awomi and general secretary Liremo R Kikon expressed dismay to note that Naga students’ residing outside the state had been facing discriminations and emotional trauma in various forms due to their physical appearances due to coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, NSF appealed to the state government liaise with the Central government and their counterparts in other states to ensure the physical and emotional well being of the Naga students living outside the state.
Meanwhile, in compliance with the government’s directive and the sincere effort to restrict the spread of Coronavirus, NSF has informed that its office will remain closed for public from march 24 till April 12. However, day-today functioning of the federation shall remain unaffected, it added. NSF also appealed to all the educational institutions including coaching institutions to strictly comply with the directive issued by the state government.
It said the federation will be maintaining a strict vigil and any institution putting the lives of the students in jeopardy due to non-compliance shall attract harsh penalty from the federation.
Further, NSF urged the students’ community and the public to exercise outmost restraint and adopt a responsible lifestyle in line with the various advisories issued by the authorities concerned at the same time to stay at home and stay safe from the deadly Covid-19.
Appeal to CS: ANCSU, in a missive to the chief secretary, has appealed to the state government to arrange transportation or special lodging for those students from far flung areas stranded in hostels etc. as some were being asked to vacate by the hostel/house owners.
It also urged the state government to arrange special transportation/special lodging for those students returning home from outside the state, as some may be stranded in railway station/airport due to unavailability of public transport because of the restriction imposed for public/transport movement.
Appeal to Higher Edn department: ANCSU has appealed to the director Higher Education to notify all colleges to instruct their respective college subject lecturers, who are yet to complete the syllabus, to provide e-book study materials, PDF, wikipedia, book references to the students through social networking sites at the earliest.
ANCSU also appealed the Higher Education department to ensure that the colleges complete all the syllabus on time (from the next academic session) to facilitate quality education to the students community.
