DLSAs provide assistance & relief: In compliance to the directives of the executive chairman, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority to reach out to persons (students/individuals) from Manipur state stranded in various districts in Nagaland, Kohima DLSA panel lawyers identified 16 persons in Kohima district. A press release from NSLSA public relations assistant stated that, the details and assistance needed by 3 persons were identified and the same was appraised to the deputy commissioner. Two persons contacted by Kohima DLSA were found to be stranded in Zunheboto and were in need of financial assistance/essential commodities.
In Dimapur, out of 88 individuals stranded, phone calls were made to all the individuals and 21 persons informed about their need for assistance. A list containing the names, contact number, address and assistance needed was prepared. Secretary of Dimapur DLSA, Somet C Chang along with the project assistant and retainer lawyer approached the deputy commissioner for assistance. Wokha DLSA identified and delivered relief materials to genuine needy beneficiaries on April 24, donated by secretary Khrievono Seletsu JMFC/ WDLSA along with panel lawyers and para legal volunteers. It contributed cash and served refreshment to duty personnel, medical team, volunteers on April 13. Kohima DLSA through the assistance from JMFC Kohima Julian Sitlhou, upon receipt of information from the superintendent, Observation Home, Wokha and Wokha DLSA that a family from Wokha district had been stranded at Khuzama Government Hospital, Kohima due to lockdown and were struggling for shelter, essential commodities, assisted in acquiring car pass (extra ordinary) and provided essential commodities and other necessary assistance. In another instance, a para legal volunteer under Chiephobozou sub division legal services clinic Keduolhoukho Chadi in collaboration with Common Service Center (CSC) Chiephobozou town assisted in helping the residents of the village through banking services (cardless cash withdrawal of Rs. 500/- up to Rs. 5,000/-) per person/per day by using Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) for any bank account. The service is said to be available from 9:30 a.m till 2 p.m (Monday to Friday). Phek DLSA in collaboration with district administration helped in disinfection and sanitation drives on vehicle plying from the other district at Chetheba town Phek. Phek DLSA officials along with deputy commissioner, superintendent of Police, public prosecutor undertook visits to COVID-19 Hospital.
BWS Dimapur: Bodo Welfare Society (BWS) Dimapur distributed food grains and other essential items to 550 needy families at 6th Mile, 5th Mile, 4th Mile, Darogapathar, Naharbari, Padumpukhri, Purana Bazar, Burma Camp, Walford, Half Nagarjan, Bank Colony, Lotha Colony and Signal Angami areas. A press release from BWS president Kirankumar Basumatary and general secretary Bileswar Khaklary expressed gratitude towards donors and well-wishers for their generosity.
Food grains distributed AAY and BHH beneficiaries: Free distribution of food grains to AAY and BHH beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kakyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) was launched at Longleng on April 25, jointly organised by the department of Food & Civil Supplies, Longleng in collaboration with district administration. According to DIPR report, in Mokokchung, DC Limawabang Jamir launched the PMGKAY to ration card holders at Mokokchung village on April 25. The same was launched at Peren and Jalukie towns on April 25.
NDPP women organization Peren: NDPP women organization of Peren distributed relief commodities to daily wage earners, widows and destitute at Jalukie town on April 25. According to DIPR report, the organization will continue to serve humanity in times of crisis.
NMSO relief distribution: Nagaland Meetei Students’ Organisation (NMSO) COVID-19 relief distribution team reached out to Meetei stranded students in Dimapur with essential ration commodities on April 26. A press release from NMSO advisor Prem Thongbam stated that, stranded students totalled 263 and were in various colonies, namely Phom Colony, Purana Bazar, Burmacamp, Manipuri Basti, Westyard Colony, Kevijau Colony, Metha Colony, PWD Colony, Y. Zhimo Colony, Signal Angami, Naga Gaon, Sachu Colony. Distribution was carried out under the guidance of colony representatives and which was received from the Dimapur district administration.
DBS: Dimapur Bengali Samaj (DBS) distributed essential relief materials to needy people on April 25. A press release from DBS president K. K. Paul stated that, distribution was carried out at Y. Zhimo Colony, Dimapur. At least 40 families of daily wage earners were benefitted.
8th Western Angami A/C: Er. Kevisekho Kruse, ex-candidate and CEC member of NDPP and family donated rice to all the villages and colonies under 8th Western Angami A/C. A press release from NDPP 8th Western Angami A/C president Vitsalhou Kesiezie and general secretary, Ravolhuto Whiso lauded the charitable works rendered by Kruse.
