Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), Dimapur District GBs Association (DDGBA), Dimapur District Village Council Chairmen Association (DDVCCA) and GB’s Union Dimapur (Sadar) have jointly declared that they would have no objection for utilization of quarantine centres within their respective jurisdictions, which were already identified by the empowered group of Dimapur district.
In a joint declaration, DUCCF president, Tsenthungo Nyamo, and general secretary, Zasi Zakiesato; DDGBA president, Khehovi V Chophi; DDVCCA president, I Khekuto Wilson and GBUD (Sadar) president, NY Ngullie and general secretary, T Onen Jami stated that should there be any genuine problems against such quarantine centres, the problem could be intimated to the them for taking up the matter to the appropriate authority.
Besides such genuine problems, the signatories affirmed that if any village, colony or ward raised objection to setting up of quarantine centres within their jurisdiction, they would leave it to the government and district administration to take action deemed fit as per existing laws and provisions.
Asserting that the returnees were “our own children, brothers, sisters and relatives,” the signatories declared full support and cooperation to the government and district authorities in the common fight against the pandemic.
They also appreciated the active role played by the Empowered Committee and Dimapur District authorities to contain the spread of COVID-19 and all other measures taken in relation to the pandemic.
The declaration was signed on May 18, 2020 during a coordination meeting held at Commissioner’s Rest House, Dimapur with APC and government representative for Dimapur, Y. Kikheto Sema, in the presence of Secretary F&CS W Honje Konyak and Commissioner of Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo.
