Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) held a meeting with all the nine major jama masjids and few panjagana masjids at Hazi Park, Dimapur on June 14, in consultation with Kohima jama masjid.
A press release from MCD working president, A. Rahman stated that, the meeting deliberated and decided to continue with the closure of all the masjids in Dimapur and Kohima till June 30. It was further decided that after this period, a meeting will be convened to discuss further measures depending on the condition of the pandemic.
The meeting also advised all the masjid committees to disinfect their masjid premises and make necessary changes as per the guidelines and to prepare for the reopening in the near future. The release stated that, although the government had made ways for reopening of prayer houses with certain riders, the MCD meeting decided to continue with the closure for the larger interest of the society and also to lend a helping hand to the government to fight the pandemic.
