The 92nd ICAR foundation day and award distribution ceremony was held on July 16, wherein a farmer from Wokha, Atheo Lotha bagged the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Anthyodaya Krishi Puruskar (PDDUAKP), 2019 (Zonal level) award for his contribution towards development of Integrated Farming System (IFS) model for tribal jhumias.
A press release by KVK Wokha senior scientist and head, Dr. Santosh Kr Baishya stated that he was a successful progressive farmer guided and promoted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wokha for integrated farming system during the year 2016-17 and since then, he has been adopting IFS approach for better farm income generation and resource conservation. He has also actively involved in promotion of IFSA to his fellow farmers in the district. He was also awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and a certificate by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, GoI, New Delhi.
