DC Phek orders partial lockdown
Seven frontline workers and three traced contacts tested positive for COVID-19 under Pfutsero sub-division in Phek district, prompting the local administration to impose a weeklong partial lockdown in the sub-division from Wednesday till August 4.
The seven frontline workers were attached to JNV quarantine centre.
Though ADC Pfutsero Phuleshe K Yepthomi in a letter to Phek deputy commissioner (DC) Sachin Jaiswal stated that 11 cases were detected in the sub-division on Tuesday, H&FW department sources clarified that 10 fresh cases were detected, while a retest was done on a confirmed case, thereby taking the day’s total cases to 11. Further, three positive cases were detected at Lasumi village. It may be mentioned that a frontline worker from Pfutsero town tested positive for COVID-19 on July 23.
In this regard, ADC Pfutsero ordered sealing of Lasumi village and few colonies of Pfutsero town, including JNV quarantine centre, Seed Farm Colony, Zhipa Colony and Mission colony with immediate effect till further orders as part of an effective measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The ADC in his letter to the DC had prayed for total lockdown at Pfutsero town in view of the frontline workers testing COVID-19 positive and to contain community spreading.
Partial lockdown in Pfutsero town: The Phek DC ordered partial lockdown in Pfutsero town from Wednesday till August 4 following an emergency meeting of District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19.
As per the order, pharmacies, shops selling essential commodities and fuel outlets will remain open from 6 am to 12 noon, while all public and vehicular movement will be prohibited from 1 pm, except for medical emergencies, police and administration.
The lockdown measures have been imposed in order to enhance active surveillance and ensure comprehensive contact tracing, detection of suspected cases and implementation of isolation measures so that the chain of transmission could be slowed down and the spread of COVID-19 infection contained.
Meanwhile, after receiving the order, Pfutsero Town Public Core Committee convener Mesulo Khalo told Nagaland Post that the committee would seek total lockdown of Pfutsero town.
He said a meeting would be held on Wednesday to review the situation of the town and seek total lockdown for contact tracing and to contain the spread of the virus.
