At least 22 houses were damaged after storm hit Saring village, Mangkolemba sub-division under Mokokchung district on September 20 evening.
As per the reports, seven houses were completely damaged while 15 houses were partially damaged.
A report submitted to DC Mokokchung by Saringyim (Nokpu ‘B’) village council on damage of houses and properties by the cyclonic storm after assessment, stated that farms and plantation of at least 16 farmers were affected by the cyclone.
Tsukti Imchen Naga, a resident from the village, told Nagaland Post over phone that a tropical cyclonic storm accompanied by high wind and heavy rains made a sudden landfall at Saringyim village around 10:30pm on September 20 night causing a massive destruction to the properties and homes in the village.
He informed that the cyclone uprooted many trees pulling down electric poles and snapping power lines in and around the village.
On Monday morning, he said the villagers woke up to a chaotic scene as almost all the streets were blocked by the fallen trees and electric poles. However, no casualties were reported during the incident.
