Satoi Area GB Association (SAGBA) and Satoi Range Students’ Union (SRSU) have appealed the chief engineer PWD (R&B) for immediate restoration of the 44 kms Satakha to Satoi road and the 100 kms road from Satoi to Kohima-Kiphire highway which have been severely damaged.
In a press release by SAGBA president, Kaito Zhimo and SRSU president Homugha Achumi stated that, due to incessant rains, the area has been partially disconnected since the month of May 2020. While much effort is being invested from all sectors in maintaining the road condition and connectivity in the area, the joint bodies stated that there was still dire need for improvement.
Pointing out that these roads were the only lifeline of the area and with rockslides, landslides and portions of roads being washed away, the joint bodies also informed that transportation of both public and essential commodities has been severely affected and survival of the citizens were under threat as it remains completely cut-off.
