Fair Price Shop Union (FPSU) Zunheboto has questioned as to why the PMGKAY money sanctioned since June 2020 meant for FPS dealers and transporters have been kept on halt by the department.

A press release by FPSU Zunheboto chairman Shitoyi Muru and general secretary, Hutovi Awomi has appealed the state government to respond within stipulated time put forward by Nagaland FPS Association “in order to avoid chaos and commotion” during such a pandemic.

It also stated that, since the launching of National Food Security Act 2013, and its subsequent implementation in Nagaland, the Fair Price Shop dealers have been doing its best in serving the people as a middle person between the government and NFSA beneficiaries ration card holders.

Pointing out that the department has kept pending the transportation and handling commission for the work done since 2018 till date, the FPSU Zunheboto stated that “the delaying tactics played by the department under state government in releasing the amount of money cannot be tolerated anymore.”

Union also stated that dealers have been distributing food grains by bearing all necessary expenditure from own pocket, keeping in mind the amount of money spend would be reimbursed by the government as per the Act under Food & Civil Supplies department. The union also asserted that it would stand firmly with the decision and demand of the All Nagaland FPS Association and shall go to any extend for justice.
