ENPO summit reaffirms Tuensang resolution

Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO)’s “Historic Summit”, which was held at EBRC hall, Tobu town on  November 10, “unanimously resolved” to uphold the December 18, 2007 Tuensang Summit resolution, which affirmed that there should be no bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within ENPO jurisdiction.

ENPO said this was the seventh reaffirmation of the 2007 resolution.

In addition of the reaffirmation, the house also resolved that public of ENPO would not tolerate and would oppose “any form of violence such as killings, kidnapping, physical assault, threat etc. in any manner both amongst the Naga Political Groups, and on ENPO & tribal leaders and on innocent public pre-Naga solution and post-Naga solution.”

It was also resolved that the unity of the people of Eastern Nagaland would continue irrespective of any tribes or groups. In the event of non-compliance of the above, the house resolved that the public of Eastern Nagaland would cease all forms of co-operation and take appropriate measures against the group. 

Further, it was decided that the ENPO would reach out and appeal the same to all other Naga tribes.

It said that the summit was “a prayerful call” to the Naga national workers from Eastern Nagaland to “seriously deliberate on peace and tranquillity pre & post Naga Political Solution.”

ENPO stated that the attendees of the summit were “duly authorized representatives” from Naga national workers of Eastern Nagaland from NSCN (I-M) and seven NNPGs besides Chang Khulei Setshang, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Konyak union, Phom Peoples’ Council, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji, Yimchunger Tribal Council, Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union, Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers Association, Eastern Nagaland Women Organization, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Nagaland Gaon Bora Union and Eastern Nagaland Dobashis’ Union.

The signatories of the resolution included presidents of ENPO, ENWO, CKS, KTC, USLB, ENGBU and ENSF; vice presidents– KU, PPC and YTC.
