Asserting that the prevailing pandemic situation was not conducive for conducting physical mode of examination, All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has sought the intervention of the state government over the forthcoming Nagaland University (NU) undergraduate examination 2020.
The NU on November 3 announced that the 1st, 3rd and 5th Semester Undergraduate Examinations was tentatively scheduled to be held from December 7-21, 2020 for affiliated colleges under NU.
In a representation addressed to the state chief secretary, the ANCSU general secretary Imnameren N Jamir and education secretary Keneitsituo Kense requested the government to take due recognition of its representation and advice the NU in larger interest of the students, colleges and the society at large.
The union, in a representation to the vice chancellor NU, maintained that the recently declared NU tentative examination routine for undergraduate degree courses needed to be re-examined.
Stating that examination routine should be student-friendly, ANCSU has, therefore, suggested conducting the said exams during early month of 2021.
It stated that physical mode of examination should be discouraged for the forthcoming examination. ANCSU also urged the university authority to consider conducting online exams as the situation was not conducive.
The union expressed hope that the NU would thoroughly assess the prevailing situation besides the revised UGC academic calendar so the career of the students was not put at stake.
