Rotary Club Dimapur (RCD) honoured the community service providers during the Rotary Vocational Service Award (RVSA) programme held at RCD, Rotary Centre, Midland, here on Saturday.
At the programme, the nurses, sanitary workers, postmen and entrepreneurs of Dimapur and club members, who served during the pandemic, were recognised.
Giving away memento, certificate and cash amount, CVS, Pradip KR Jain stated that persons from various vocations such as nurses, sanitary workers, postmen etc provided services to the community at large during the pandemic, but were recognised seldom by the society.
He stated that Rotary conducted the award programme to recognise the service rendered by frontline workers during the pandemic.
Rotary Vocational Service Award for useful vocations was awarded to P Ramna (sanitary worker, DMC), Nagraj (sanitary worker, DMC), Diezenuo Miachieo (staff nurse, District Hospital Dimpaur) Thunglamo Lotha (postman, Dimapur post office) and Temsuwapang Longchar (sanitary officer, DMC). Under Rotary Vocational Service Award for entrepreneurs, the awards were bagged by Bistro 29, Funky Buddha and The Himalayan Beans, Hope Café & Bakery and Nagaland Coffee Shop, while Dr.AsonlaAying Chang, Dr. D R Sharma, Dr. EM Ovung, Dr. Nitin Agarwalla and Rakesh Kochar and Ann Prima K bagged the award for rotarians who served the community beyond vocational commits.
Earlier, RCD president Kitoshi Zhimomi, in her welcome speech, stated that the aim of Rotary was to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
She said that Rotary recognised the importance of all skills and occupation by honouring business or professionals which demonstrated high ethical standards.
A brief speech Rotary foundation recognition was also presented by CRFC, Rtn, RS Panesar while awardees also presented short speeches.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Lucy Akokla and national anthem was sung at the opening.
