East Dimapur GBs Association (EDGBA) has informed that works at RCC T-Beam Bridge over Dhansiri river at Purana Bazar, East Dimapur has resumed after the members of the association visited the site of the construction and took stock of the situation.

In a press release, EDGBA general secretary Pitu Mech expressed deep anguish over the “unwarranted disturbances” in the construction of bridge by the “alleged land owners”, which abruptly disturbed and delayed completion of the much-awaited bridge.

EDGBA cautioned that, henceforth, action would be taken against whosoever attempted to obstruct the work progress. The association asserted that it would supervise the work on a daily basis to ensure its completion.

Acknowledging the prompt action taken by the DC Dimapur on the issue, the association affirmed that it would ensure that no individuals defied the order of DC Dimapur. It further cautioned that anyone doing so would attract legal recourse or any action deemed fit in the interest of the people of East Dimapur.

Earlier this month, sources told Nagaland Post that the bridge, which connects Super Market and Purana Bazaar, was almost ready for use, but owing to some issues the opening of the bridge has been delayed.

Sources had said that some land owners reportedly stopped the construction of retaining walls for the approach road at Purana Bazaar side, which stalled the progress of work.
