
State government has recognized Tamlu as full-fledged town council while Tamlu PHC has also been upgraded to Community Health Centre.
According to District Media Officer, Roseline, the official recognition of Tamul Town Council was done on March 12 after it was inaugurated by advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Niekiesalie Nicky Kire.
He encouraged everyone to use the opportunity that has been bestowed upon them by the government, and to come forward with new innovative ideas, while citing examples of other districts. He also appealed to all the citizens of Tamlu area to contribute with their new creative ideas for more developmental activities.
Meanwhile, on the same day, minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom inaugurated the upgradation of Tamlu PHC to Community Health Center.
Pangnyu while delivering a short speech at the inaugural program held at the marketing complex, expressed appreciation and thanked everyone for joining him in celebrating this auspicious day. He encouraged everyone to come forward and join hands and work together for the betterment of the new upgraded health center. He further stated that “seed which has been planted today should be nurtured by the people of Tamlu in particular”.
He also appealed to all the government officers and civil societies to extend support to the doctors, nurses and staffs of the new Community Health Center saying that the well being of the staffs depended upon the community. He also expressed confidence that the new upgraded CHC would benefit all the villages under Tamlu area.
Brief reports were delivered by Joint Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima, and Director Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Kohima Nagaland and short speeches were delivered by former minister, B. Phongshak; NDPP central general secretary, Bangtick Phom on behalf of MLA 49A/C Tamlu, ADC Tamlu, Chingak Konyak on behalf of DC Longleng, president Phom People’s Council, president TYNA and chairman Tamlu Village Council.
After the program, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire also flagged off the Tamlu Town Council sanitation tata mobile.
