
Taking strong exception to the unregulated transport fares which had taken a toll on the public, especially the student community, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Nagaland state unit has appealed to the state government to “intervene immediately and take necessary steps to ease the burden of the public”.
In a press release, media cell NSUI Nagaland stated that majority of the common people used public transports however the exorbitant transport fares charged by drivers without following SOP guidelines had become a burden for the public.
While NSUI appreciated deputy commissioners (DCs) who had taken prompt action to revise the rates in pre-covid times, it requested the respective regional transport authorities to revise the rates of different transports and publish it for the convenience of the public.
Further, the union appealed to the district administration to provide helpline numbers for students and public to report their grievances in case of flouting of rules by the drivers.
