State animal husbandry & veterinary services (AH&VS) department has claimed that there was continued rampant encroachment of department land by private individual, group etc. surrounding veterinary field assistant training institute, piggery farm, poultry farm, cattle farm at Medziphema including the fodder field meant for growing fodder grasses for cattle.
Asserting that all those institutes and the land belonged to the state government, the department said it was finding it very difficult “to hold these land in its possession due to heavy and forceful encroachment by the public.” The department stated that the four institutes/farms were prime possession of the government and cautioned that losing them would be poignant to all stakeholders and a great loss to posterity.
It pointed out that VFATI, Medziphema was one of the premier institutes for undergoing certificate course on VFA, but now the environment was disturbed due to encroachment.
The department has, therefore, requested all responsible to refrain from encroachment as the land still belonged to the department legally and anyone doing so would be at its own risk.
