Along with other parts of the country, Holi, the popular festival of colours, was celebrated across the State in a much more muted fashion, as large gatherings were not allowed.
In the Stat’s commercial hub, most of the shops owned by non-Nagas remained shut on the occasion, while many people were seen drenched totally in colours in many colonies.
Both young and old, men and women were seen smearing colours at each other with abir (colour powder), coloured water, pichkari (water guns), water balloons filled with coloured water, etc.
However, unlike in the previous years, the usual public enthusiasm witnessed during Holi celebration was somewhat missing this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, for which there are restrictions on huge gatherings too, a resident of West Yard colony said.
Symbolising the triumph of good over evil, the festival of Holi marks the end of winter season and arrival of spring.
