
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima, Gregory Thejawellie has informed ADC Tseminyu/Chiephobozou; SDO (C) Jakhama/Sechu/Sadar; EAC Kezocha/Botsa/Tsogin, regarding the reconstitution of village council that the last date for VCM proposal has been extended up to April 30.
According to DIPR report, the DC has informed villages that are yet to submit the VCM proposal for government approval to submit the same on or before April 15.
It also added that as per section 16 (6) and 16 (8) of Nagaland village and tribal councils act 1978, concerned officers have been requested to issue instructions to villages under respective jurisdiction to obtain declaration from persons whose names are forwarded for village council member (VCM) on the following: that he is not a salaried government servant and that he is not a member of any other village council.
