
A 14-day special handloom expo “spring” North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS), organised by department of industries and commerce, nagaland and funded by office of the development commissioner for handlooms, ministry of textiles, government of India, under development commissioner for handlooms, was inaugurated by additional director, department of industries and commerce, Nagaland, Vitsuthu Nyuthe at Urban Haat, Dimapur on April 28.
According to officials, the objective of the expo is to enable the weavers to showcase their products and to increase the handloom fabric production by ways of establishing market linkages.
It also aims to encourage innovation in design and techniques, diversification of product lines and value addition, better access domestic and export markets so that weavers get continuous employment and improve their living standards.
Altogether, 30 stalls were set up.
It may be mentioned that the expo is held while following all SOPs issued by the government.
