PNF holds study of HIV &AIDS Act 2017 for D+WA

A study of the HIV&AIDS (prevention and control) Act 2017 was organised by People in Need Foundation (PNF) for the leaders of the Dimapur Positive Women Association (D+WA) on May 1 at the Prodigals’ Home Hall, Dimapur.

A press release by PNF stated that during the study, the participants were familiarized with terms like, capacity to consent, informed consent, significant risk, discrimination, protected person, reasonable accommodation, apart from others in the Act.
Of the 14 chapters of the Act, PNF said chapter (IV) on “disclosure of status”; Chapter (VI) on “Anti-retroviral Therapy and opportunistic infection management for PLHA” connected with the participants. PNF stated that the participants were informed that till date the status of appointment of Ombudsman in state was uncertain. Despite Nagaland being the third highest HIV prevalent state in India, the participants were informed that the state has not appointed the single most important point person for this section of society.
Having no guidelines on the HIV&AIDS Act 2017 from the state yet, PNF said the study was done on the text of the Central Act. The association, which is functioning under People in Need Foundation, organization, has reported registration of 152 positive members, informed PNF.
