State logs 244 new Covid cases, 6 deaths

Nagaland on Wednesday recorded 244 fresh Covid positive cases and six more fatalities from across  the state.

Of the fresh cases, Dimapur reported 115 cases, Kohima- 88, Mokokchung and Zunheboto- 12 each, Longleng and Wokha five each, three from Mon, two from Peren and one each in Kiphire and Phek, taking the total caseload to 18950.

The death toll rose further surged to 234 (223 Covid deaths and 11 non-Covid deaths but Covid positive)  after five persons succumbed to the contagion in Dimapur and one in Kohima. The state currently has 4426 active cases while 215 more recovered from the infection.

Meanwhile, a total of 251592 persons have been inoculated against Covid (197679 first dose and 53913 second dose.

India record 4,529 fatalities in single day: India saw a record 4,529 fatalities due to coronavirus in a single day pushing the COVID-19 death toll to 2,83,248, while 2.67 lakh fresh cases were recorded, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

With a total of 2,67,334 fresh infections, India’s total tally of cases climbed to 2,54,96,330.

The active cases dipped to 32,26,719 comprising 12.66 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 86.23 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 2,19,86,363 while the case fatality rate has  increased to 1.11 per cent, the data stated.
