Nagaland receives 1200 oxygen cylinders

Nagaland on Friday received the first batch consignment consisting of 400 jumbo (D type) and 800 B-Type oxygen cylinders.

The consignment containing 1200 cylinders were transported from Ahmedabad via Jorhat by the Indian Air Force logistics team, after which they were brought to Dimapur by road and stored at the State depot for oxygen cylinders, Police Complex Chumukedima.

“We’ve received the first batch of oxygen cylinders procured by Nagaland – 400 jumbo & 800 B-type. They were airlifted along with the trucks by IAF aircraft,” chief minister Neiphiu Rio said in a tweet. Meanwhile, in a statement, government spokespersons on COVID-19, minister Neiba Kronu and adviser Mmhonlumo Kikon informed that oxygen consignment was procured by Nagaland Health Project aided by World Bank. 

With these and other receipts, the spokespersons said the total number of oxygen cylinders available in the state in the last 10 days have gone up from 402 to 1014 type-D cylinders and 1533 to 2344 type-B cylinders respectively, with more cylinders on the way. State now has 402 oxygen concentrators.

They also informed that the state depot for oxygen cylinders has been activated to facilitate smooth movement of oxygen cylinders to districts and also to reduce the turn-around time for refilling.
