
KVK Kiphire in collaboration with DHO, Kiphire conducted training on Integrated Farming Security (IFS) for livelihood security, farmers-scientist interaction and awareness on Covid19 vaccination, at Sangkhumti village on July 2 and 4.
Farmers from Latsu, Kiusisu, Kiusum town, Kiusum village and Chikiuponger and Metonger village attended the programme.
Senior scientist and Head (i/c) of KVK, Dr. N. Khumdemo Ezung and DHO, Kiphire, Sentinungba Longchar were the resource persons.
In a press release, KVK Kiphire stated that, Longchar highlighted on departmental activities and programmes under MIDH, PMKSY and RKVY.
He informed the participants to submit application to department along with required documents for taking up any projects in their respective villages.
Later, banana, pineapple, apple and orange saplings were provided to farmers.
In his presentation, Dr. Ezung stated that at KVK, research related to crops and livestock were carried out by scientist with the involvement of farmers to establish suitability of variety and breeds before it was recommended to farmers for large-scale adoption.
He also encouraged the farmers to take up IFS as it will not only provide food and income resources, but security to the family as more than one component will be taken up in this system.
Deliberating on the misconception of Covid19 vaccine, he stated that vaccine was safe and that everyone should get vaccinated for providing safety to oneself and family. The interaction programme was led by HEA, DHO, Kiphire, Seroba Sangtam, where farmers and village elders shared their interest and problems pertaining to agriculture activities which the visiting officials assured to extend all possible help.
