
Kohima District Truck owner’s and Driver Union (KDTODU), which held a joint meeting at Lalmati with various unions, association, presidents and secretaries from Dimapur Senapati, Imphal Manipur and Assam on October 6 and discussed problems of the drivers, has adopted a five-point resolution.
In a press release, KDTODU president Ruvese Sokha informed that the house, during the meeting, unanimously resolved to have its own home district ID card for safety and security of the drivers which would be accepted in all states under Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
A coordination committee of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur drivers’ union/ association was formed and memorandum of understanding (MoU) for solving the problems of drivers was unanimously passed by the president, general secretary of Dimapur, Kohima, Senapati, Imphal, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat Nagaland, Manipur & Assam. The meeting also discussed that a coordination committee would be formed (North East Federation of Trade Union) in North East with Rüvese Sokha as president, K. Daiko as working president, Kuhoi Zhimomi as vice president, Khrishna Bhattarai as general secretary, Sanjay Khsh as advisor along with 10 other members.
The meeting also resolved to constitute a drafting committee with three members.
The joint coordination committee appealed to the governments of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur for the implementation of “Social Security Act” for motor workers for the safe and security of the poor drivers.
