To honour and celebrate the diverse culture of India, North East Zone Cultural Center (NEZCC) ministry of culture in collaboration with Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) organised a cultural programme titled, “Bridging Classical and Folk Dance of Nagaland” on October 11 in the auditorium of Christian Higher Secondary school Dimapur.
According to a DPRO report, special judge Posco Court Dimapur, V. Nyekha, DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Patton and Indigenous Cultural Society Dimapur Nagaland and Nagaland NGOs Forum president graced the occasion as special guest and guests of honour on the day.
In his speech, special guest, Nyekha appealed to the VWF Dimapur and NEZCC to expand such activities throughout Nagaland in order to bridge classical and folk dances of Nagaland.
Meanwhile, guest of honour, Lolano Patton lauded NEZCC and VWF for coming up with a befitting programme that would promote the rich cultural diversity of India and most importantly reminding people about the concept of showing unity without fragmentation despite being from different regions with different cultures.
“This greatly speak volumes about oneness in us and sense of belongingness to one another keeping in tune with the slogan, unity in diversity”, she stated.
DPRO Dimapur encouraged the organisers to come up with such events in the future so that peace, harmony and love continue to prevail.
On the occasion, Lolano Patton on behalf of District Task Force Dimapur acknowledged VWF Dimapur for active participation and contribution towards the cause of the people especially during the pandemic.
Speaking as guest of honour, Dr. Hesheto said that the foundation was one of the best performing NGOs amongst the 33000 NGOs in Nagaland.
Earlier, chief coordinator, Manisha Borkotoki delivered the welcome note while VWF secretary highlighted the activities of the foundation.
Highlights of the programme included dance by Reya and group, fusion performance and felicitation of participants.
Vote of thanks was proposed by coordinator, Priya Bhattacharjee.
