Expressing dismay over the stalling of the proposed road project from Tenning to Leike, which was approved by the ministry of development of North East region (DoNER), the Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland (ZYFN) has appealed to the responsible authorities not to stall major developments and infrastructures in Peren district.

ZYFN through its media cell said the road project had been stalled because of the pending case at Gauhati High Court Kohima bench filed by the proprietor Ms. Hi-Tech construction against Nagamitech infrastructure development corporation limited, which was selected for the project.

ZYFN said that the project, sanctioned under North East special road development scheme (NESRDS) ministry of DoNER, had been stalled since 2016.

The organisation has, therefore, urged both the contending parties to settle their differences outside the court by withdrawing the case so the work could be initiated at the earliest possible time.

It said that Nsong sub-division, being one the most remote areas, needed special attention from the government.

The organisation said that surrounding villages had been facing untold miseries due to transportation problems. It said that most of their agriculture products were untapped and beyond the reach of government agencies. ZYFN said all these factors emanated due to lack of infrastructure development—road and bridge.

Further, the organisation said that PMGSY project, which was implemented in 2012 in the region of the district, was a failure for reason best known to the contractors and concern department.
