Deputy commissioner (DC) Mon Thavaseelan K on October 16 handed over a letter intimating the sanction of Rs. 50 Lakh under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP): Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19 to family members of the healthcare worker who succumbed to COVID-19 while performing his duty under the establishment of Primary Health Center (PHC) Naginimora, Mon.
According to a DIPR report, the amount was directly credited to the bank account of the wife of the deceased healthcare worker.
The DC informed that the centre had launched Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package: Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19 on April 24, 2021 in order to provide a safety net to the dependents of healthcare workers who were deputed to take care of COVID patients. It provides a comprehensive personal cover of Rs. 50 Lakh to all healthcare providers including community health workers and private health workers drafted by the government for the care of COVID-19 patients and for those who may have come in direct contact of COVID patients and were at risk of being impacted by it.
