Demands public apology for October 29 raid
Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO), comprising of 32 villages on Tuesday declared non-cooperation with the Assam Rifles.
Condemning the “despicable and contemptible act of the 1st Assam Rifles” for conducting raid at the residence of its president Roko Angami at Zhadima village on October 29, NAYO vice president Visakhotuo Tsira and general secretary Ruokuoneitso Kire said that the decision was in line with Angami Youth Organisation’s (AYO) decision to not cooperate with the Assam Rifles “until and unless such detestable act of the Assam Rifles is stopped.”
In this regard, NAYO said that presidential meeting held on November 9 unanimously declared non-cooperation with the Assam Rifles and all bonafide youths under Northern Angami area have been asked “to shun or desist from participating in any activities be it sports or any other events organised by the Assam Rifles until and unless justice is served to our leader.”
NAYO cautioned all affiliated units and youth members from propagating any false agendas and information that would tarnish the society and unity. It further said that strict action would be initiated under ‘NAYO Yezhabo’ against any unit/members who would violate the unanimous decision of NAYO.
Further, NAYO demanded the 1st Assam Rifles to reveal the source and informant(s) of the “questionable act of attrition”. While seeking justice, NAYO also demanded the Assam Rifles “publicly declare their error and apologise for their act of attrition.”
It pointed out that during the raid, nothing incriminating or suspected evidence(s) were found which the AR were in-search of.
