Rebecca Changkija Sema from Dimapur, currently residing in Mumbai has been appointed by the government of Sikkim as celebrity and PR national management for the Second Sikkim Global Film Festival to be held from December 10-14 under the aegis of Information and Public Relations Department Sikkim.
In an interview with Nagaland Post, Rebecca said that she was humbled beyond words for the opportunity and said that the government of Nagaland should also support local film makers by organising such festivals and provide opportunities to local film makers.
She lamented how many talented filmmakers and artistes were struggling due to absence of support from the state government. On the event, she informed that the festival would be inviting filmmakers, directors, producers, film critics and technical experts from all over the country to Sikkim to open doors to a wider audience for filmmaking and generate revenue and employment for state at a larger scale, while also providing international platform for the film fraternity including professional filmmakers film enthusiasts and film/media students of Sikkim who aspire to choose film making as a profession. It may be mentioned here that Sikkim was awarded the “Most Film Friendly State” of the country at the 67th National Film Awards.
Changkija informed that Malaika Arora would be celebrity star campaigner for the event and filmmakers such as Priyadarshan, actor and director, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, Abhinav Kashyap, writer and director Akashaditya Lama, writer and director Shiraz Henry and others would attend the festival. Rebecca also informed that in order to encourage filmmakers to make films in the state, the Sikkim government would be providing subsidy of Rs 20 lakh in cash and kind to local filmmakers and subsidy of Rs 1 crore in cash and kind to the national filmmakers.
It may be mentioned that Changkija is the proprietor of Find Studioz Production House, Mumbai and was also awarded “100 successful women in business conference and awards 2021”, by Global Trade Chambers, Florida (USA).
