District level awareness and sensitisation on Nagaland Education Project – the Lighthouse (NECTAR) was held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) Noklak on Thursday.
According to a DIPR report, deputy project director, Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR) Avelu Ruho stated that with the support from World Bank, the department of School Education (DoSE) launched the “Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse – Nagaland Enhancing Class Teaching and Resources (NECTAR)”, with the aim to improve and enhance quality and learning outcome of government schools in Nagaland.
The NEP – The Lighthouse is a project that will breathe new life into the education system of the state, providing greater opportunity for students and teachers to realise their potential, Avelu Ruho added.
Avelu Ruho said that through this initiative, the state government was committed to prioritise and focus its efforts on addressing three precisely targeted problems within a fixed project duration: enhance governance of schools across the state, improvement in teaching practices and enhancing of overall learning environment.
She also elaborated the key components of Nagaland Education Project – the lighthouse as: improving system and school management, enhance teaching and learning environment and technical assistance.
Avelu Ruho urged upon the community to take ownership and take responsibility for successful implementation of the project in the district.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner (DC) Noklak, Hiazu Meru said Noklak district had many challenges in the education sector which needed to be apprised to the higher ups.
Knowing that education was the driving force for all development, Hiazu Meru stressed on the need to have science and commerce stream since due to economic problems many students could not study these subjects.
The programme was chaired by EAC Noklak, Kathyinla and vote of thanks was proposed by Puchai PM.
